New Podcast Series Alert: BLACK IN CTE – Leading. Innovating. Empowering.
February is Black History Month and CTE Month. Both are deeply personal to me, and they sit at the center of why I do this work.
For the second annual Black In CTE series on the Global Career Tech Education Podcast, we are spotlighting what real career pathways look like in action.
This year’s series centers on Finance, Aviation, and Medicine. Three fields. One clear focus. Access, exposure, and preparation that actually leads to opportunity.
Dr. Nzingha Williams - Bridging Career and Technical Education, higher education, and corporate talent at Wells Fargo, Dr. Williams leads nationally recognized emerging talent programs and writes Rootivate, a Substack exploring experiential learning, skills first hiring, and equity in career development. This is her second time on the podcast, and the conversation goes deep on how education, work, and opportunity connect.
James Tigner - As Director of Aviation at the Center for Aviation and Technology Training, a Hosanna House program, James leads a high school aviation pathway that gives students access to credentials, flight experience, and FAA certifications before graduation, proving that aviation careers can begin earlier than most people think.
Dr. Laveil Allen - A practicing radiologist and faculty member at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Dr. Allen brings perspective from medicine, emergency care, and mentorship, showing how long term pathways are built through belief, rigor, and representation.
We kick off the series this Wednesday with Dr. Nzingha Williams.
Episodes drop throughout February.
